1. Who we are
Talkra operates the platform at talkra.xyz. We are committed to protecting personal data for all users, with particular care given to data relating to students and minors.
2. What data we collect
Account information: first name, email address and encrypted password
Profile information: native language, target language and learning level
School information: school name, country, role and student count for school accounts
Usage data: session history, fluency scores and task completion records
Voice session data: audio is processed in real time for AI coaching and safety monitoring and is not stored permanently after the session ends
3. How we use your data
To provide and improve the Talkra platform
To match users for language practice sessions
To generate AI coaching feedback after sessions
To monitor sessions for safety and compliance
To send service communications and launch notifications
To generate anonymised trend reports for research purposes
4. Student data and COPPA / GDPR compliance
For school-managed accounts, student data is managed by the school. Students under 18 do not require a personal email address. Schools are responsible for obtaining required parental consents under applicable laws including COPPA and GDPR.
5. Data storage and security
All user data is stored using Firebase on Google Cloud infrastructure. Data for UK and European users is stored on EU servers. We use industry-standard encryption and access controls.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with advertisers. We share data only with third-party services required to operate the platform: Firebase, Microsoft Azure, OpenAI, Daily.co and Stripe.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data at any time. To request data deletion contact us at privacy@talkra.xyz.
8. Cookies
We use only functional cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account on Talkra you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are registering on behalf of a school you confirm you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
2. Eligibility
Individual users must be 18 or older to create a personal account. Students under 18 may use Talkra only through a school-managed account. Schools are responsible for ensuring appropriate parental consents are in place.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Talkra to share personal contact information with other users, engage in harassment or abuse, share inappropriate content, or attempt to circumvent AI safety monitoring systems.
4. Safety monitoring
All voice sessions are transcribed and monitored in real time by AI for safety compliance. By using Talkra you consent to this monitoring. Schools are notified immediately of any safety flags.
5. School accounts
Schools are responsible for appropriate use of Talkra by their students. School administrators may deactivate any student account at any time.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Free tier accounts are available with no payment required. Premium subscriptions and school plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Refunds are available within 7 days where the service has not been materially used.
7. Intellectual property
All content, design, code and branding on Talkra is owned by Talkra. By using Talkra you grant us a limited licence to process session audio and transcripts for coaching feedback and safety monitoring.
8. Limitation of liability
Talkra is provided as-is during the founding partner phase. Our liability to any user is limited to the amount paid by that user in the 3 months prior to any claim.
